How high is the Mönch?

How high is the Mönch?

The Mönch has allways been 4099 m as far as I know. Now some say 4107 m. What is the correct height?

4107 m to 4110 m depending on the ice cap I think.
4099 m is an old survey.

This was a newspaper topic some years ago. A new edition of Swiss map and a new mesuring had 4107m as a result - and nobody, including swiss mapmaklers, could explain how there could have been an error of 8 m. In any case 4107m is the actual number.

On Monday after climbing the Nollen route my GPS showed 4108m and we did not climb onto the tip of the cornice :D
