June 11-14 Eastside Beta/Suggestions

by mrchad9 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 6:30 pm

Heading out for a 3-4 day trip with a friend tomorrow afternoon, seems still a lot of snow out there.

We were considering Mt Darwin west ridge, or maybe Abbot and Mills as an alternative. Anyone done them recently or this early in another season? Or have suggestions for similar trips as an alternative? Looking for something in the class 3 range.
Thanks in advance...

I got a good look at Abbott last night from Rock Creek Lake... definitely doable... I'm just guessing now...but probably a few patches of snow up to Ruby and mostly snow from there on. I'll be heading up Abbot Sun.

Thanks- looks like we'll head Abbot way as well. Maybe be on Mills Sunday. We'll see...

I walked up to Ruby this morning. Snow from just below Ruby on. The snow was hard this morning even at 10 am.. 40 degrees in the parking lot.

Blair and I may see you there. Sunday looks like the better day to climb. :)

Absolute beautiful weekend at Rock Creek, if you count the 1" or so of graupel Friday night, some wind and lotsa clouds on Sat with managable temps, and pure High Sierra summer on Sunday! PHEW!! We got some great turns in on Sat and Sun off Ruby's skirt and down "into" Mills Lake. Snow was HERO and lots of it!
