Metal plate in leg problems at altitude ?

by Archm » Sun Nov 03, 2013 10:06 pm

Hey All,

I have some screws and a plate in my leg and ankle after an kitesurfing accident a few months back. I'm just wondering if any one has experience with any issues with metalwork at altitude or long periods in cold temps etc..

Thanks in advance..

I have extensive metal work in my spine - two large plates and eight large screws. No problems up to 6000 meters and -35 C.

I have a plate and screws in my ankle. I've been to 17k on Denail and 18k+ on Pico de Orizaba with no problem. Been down to -20/25 F several times with no noticeable difference between it and my 'good' ankle.
Comfort is probably more dependent on your gear than anything else….. As my brother said, "There are 10 reasons to get good boots….."
