Need a US size 12.5 hiking boot

by photo61guy » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:26 pm

Looking for a size 12.5 hiker.....little heavier than a trail runner. Most or all US brands seem to jump from 12 to 13. Euro size 46 to 46.5 may work. Anybody with some suggestions?

La sportiva has nice ones!
Love my size 47 nepal extremes, although you need a harder one, check approach shoes of la sportiva! Going to buy me a pair one of these days ...

Ditto on the La Sportiva recommendation. My favorite hiking shoes are the La Sportiva Sandstone XCR in size 46.5. They fit me perfect where 13 is usually too big and 12 is too small. Check 'em out: http://www.sportiva.com/products/prod/345

I totally wore out my first pair after doing over a hundred desert peaks (lots of sharp rocks) last year, but I liked them so much I bought two additional pairs. If you are lucky like I was you can find them for about $100 on sale (they list at $130).

The only thing I didn't like was the durability of the laces; however I upgraded to boot laces and they worked out fine.

I've got a pair of Size 46 Sportiva Makalus that I'd like to part with.
They're a bit older, but in pretty good shape, and could go for pretty cheap.

PM if yer interested.

Don't give up on 12s & 13s. Find a brand & model that runs a bit large or a bit small. Use footbeds, socks, & lacing techniques to dial the fit in. Sorry I can't offer any specific [brand/model] suggestions, as I've been out of the fitting game for awhile, but I'm confident that you can find a 12 or 13 to work quite well. It just may take a little digging.

To my knowledge (which is certainly not exhaustive), there aren't any mass manufacturers making shoes on a size 12.5 US last. I'm not even sure there are any size 12.5 US lasts in existence, other than maybe custom boot/shoe makers' shops.
