Until I can competently climb 5.10, I don't think that I should dabble, just yet, in all of that "6th Class" business.

I have several friends who complain time and time again about people on the Nose or WC who slow down several parties because they can't free some of the easier (i'm told 5.8ish) sections. Not just that, but their overall aid technique is slow as ...

This weekend on Baden-Powell I couldn't help but notice the numerous trails directly down the mountain. Following the established (mapped) trail I lost count at around 16 switchbacks. As I hiked along I saw a couple running down the fall line with no regard for the trail. Unfortunately they were too far ahead for me to say something reasonably politely. Being by myself I did not care for a fight. ...

This season I've been checking out the taquerias after climbing. Some places that I've enjoyed in Cali are -

• Bishop -- Taqueria Los Palmas, nice after the Palisades for example
• Lee Vining -- Mono Mart, not really a taqueria, but they do have reasonably-priced "Monoritos" in case you are not up for $$$ fish tacos at the Whoa Nelli Deli :D Great on ice climbing ...

Who the hell invented the term "trad" climbing? Was it sport climbers? God, I have the term "trad."

I say that we take back out climbing and not let sport climbers define what we do.

From now on, it's "real" climbing, not "trad."
