Owens River Gorge

by Deb » Wed Mar 06, 2013 6:07 pm

Sure it's still winter but I've got people who want to rock climb while their ski boots dry out. Anyone been dorking around in the Gorge can attest to its miserable-ness? I'm thinking 3 days after a snow, it'll be cold and dank down in there. So which area is the warmest? Haven't been in there for over 10 years.

Suck it up and go to gorgeous towers lol.

Lower Elbow room has some really cool climbs. Quail trail is like the coolest 5.9 I ever done on sport. There are a few cool slab routes there too (one 5.9 and one 10d). And a super fun 2 pitch 10b. All climbs are not that long, but fun....and if it is warm enough you can go to gorgeous towers.. :)

Lots of good winter climbing in the Gorge. Sometimes you have to even look for shade.

This might be Tuesday's trip. Yep, I've been all over Gorgeous; had a partner break her foot on an unfinished project just to the right years ago.
Rick, you interested? In climbing, not breaking a foot. :)

Easy day with a cool sunburn! Look forward to reacquainting with the Gorge and climbing harder without my dry fingers being split open. :/ Sorry I didn't catch up with you, Chief.
