Palisades conditions?

by pjc30943 » Mon Jul 18, 2016 1:54 am

Any beta shots of the palisades, eg swiss arete or for the pal traverse? I'm guessing not much snow by now on approach or descent.
How's the water running up to sam mack lake or at Gayley Camp area?

Just climbed Swiss Arete. Approach is talus and very soft snow, tedious. No snow on Swiss Arete, a couple of ice patches that are easy to avoid. No snow on any other rock routes we could see. U-notch and V-notch look thin and dirty, Clyde and Underhill couloirs mostly melted out. Bergshrund mostly open under all couloirs. We camped about 200 ft below Gayley Camp, where there as a running stream. Water was harder to get higher up. There are mosquitoes even up there.
