Anyone heard the news of Forrest on Denali?

by TheBootfitter » Sun Apr 23, 2017 3:24 pm

Per a fellow snowshoer I met while training on the Skyline Lake trail at Stevens, Forrest (can't recall last name; I believe he was a former guide with RMI) and a partner were climbing the Cassin Ridge quite early this year. Evidently, they had some issues while getting down.

Here's a story that I presume describes their trip:

Forrest Murphy? He's bad ass, was on the cover of Alpinist when he and Mark Westman made the third ascent of the South Spur on Mt. Hunter, AK 6+. F.A.: Jonny Waterman, solo, over 146 days, one of the most epic AK Range feats, second ascent: Pete Athens et. al. They badly underestimated the route and nearly perished on the ascent.
