It's hard not to get obsessed when it comes to a project like this, which demands so much effort... as it requires constant hard work. But, if there's one thing I've learned throughout my career, it's that if you're obsessed with the mountains, they won´t care who you are and won´t respect you. The mountains are free, you are just a visitor who is there to climb it. Therefore, I always try to know where the limit is, in order to return home all of us safe. Success rate in winter expeditions is only 25%, but the hardness and purity in winter is nowhere near as anything else you can experience in life. The strong wind didn´t let us climb upwards. Winter K2 resists, but we must respect it. You have to listen to the mountain. This winter has showed us that it is not the time yet. The mountain will always be there, waiting to show us the best winter view of the Karakorum. I will definitely return!

Jannu East Face. Guys spent night at 6517 (or 6770 by tracker). The summit tower looks too difficult in such conditions, so they decided to climb to left from previously planned route

Jannu East Face. Guys are almost at 7000 by the altimeter (7211 by the tracker), ascended today 100 m in snowfall conditions, but didn't reach the ridge yet. The light on the wall had been seen from the BC last night.

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/adve ... roy/?cmpid 00 -- Exclusive : This climber (Jim Reynolds) just pulled off the biggest free solo of the year (and its not Alex Honnold
https://www.facebook.com/pages/category ... 956987849/
Great exploits in Patagonia by Jim Reynolds, 25-Year-Old Californian famous for holding together with brad gobright the record of climbing speed in climbing of the nose on El Captain (2 h 19'44 ", record then beaten by Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell. Reynolds climbed solo and free only fitz roy along the Northwest Ridge (via afanassiev). And he also back it, always without any security. All in 15 hours and 50 minutes.
In the national geographic article you can find the details of this really impressive feat because it was the first time for Reynolds (which is part of Yosemite search and rescue). Which is three months left to wait for the right moment (even from the weather point of view) for its great climb. He also lived closely the dramas of this summer season patagonian, which recorded dead also on Fitz Roy. Just after that tragedy Reynolds had written these words, which make us understand his personality:
" this place fills me with doubts. Not sure about appartenergli. Four people died in the last window
Weather. It's terrible and ugly in these mountains of an otherwise immaculate beauty. Should I be here? Days later I knew my best friend since childhood died by overdose of heroin. In both cases death is inglorious, but i firmly believe that we are engaging for something beautiful. These are beautiful moments that make life worth living. Maybe one day I'll feel a different love and attract me elsewhere, but life is dangerous. I will not abandon love for fear.
