Climbs from the Monta Rosa Hut and Zermatt

by Global_09 » Sun May 21, 2006 6:40 pm

I was wondering what prominent summits I can do from the Monta Rosa Hut. I would like to climb mountains that can be done in a full day (4am- 9pm, 17hours).

Also, what other summits are available from Zermatt. I will be going to Zermatt in August and I do not want to leave the town of Zermatt (except for staying at the huts). I am mostly intrested in prominant peaks that can be done in one day.

I would like to get 4 (other than the Matterhorn) prominent summits in by the end of my two week stay. Any recomendations?

Thanks for your help

See list of climbs here (Besteigungen). This site also includes the necessary contact information.

See also the Monte Rosa Hut page on SP – it also lists climbs that can be done from the hut.

There are numerous "prominent summits" that can be climbed from huts that are approached from Zermatt – use the interactive map search function and seek them out. The interactive map for the Matterhorn is a good starting point.

It all depends on what you consider "prominent" and how difficult of climbs you want to undertake.
