Places to store gear in Chamonix and Zermatt?

by Nanuls » Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:13 pm

I'm going to be in either the Chamonix or Zermatt areas next week. I'll be camping and won't have a car. Obviously I don't want to carry all my stuff with me when I'm up in the mountains, does any one know if there are lockers to keep my surplus gear in, or if there are any campsites that will hold on to my gear while I am gone?

Cheers
Dan

There are rental lockers at most train stations. The hotel where we stayed graciously offered to stash our stuff for free when we were on Mont Blanc, even though we had checked out and had no post climb reservations. I think the owner/manager was a climber. Not sure about camp grounds.

At the camping site In Randa if you are off to a hut for a night or to he will not charge you for your tent spac.

But always ask first and make sure you stay more than a day or two.

don't bother camping in Zermatt it is more expensive than Randa and the facilities are not as good.

cheers
