Good story dingus..... Happy New Year 2 you. :) :)

Went to Josh for 5 days. ..... with the youth movement, we did drink whiskey in till midnight, next day 1/1/2010.... we went to Queen Mt.

The weather was as good as it gets, cold nights, sunny days.

A good way to kick off the new year.

c-ya.

Very nice. I was almost there with you, but my sister opted for the coast instead.

Just saw this post. Ten-hour drive, yikes. I always have sympathy for Rick and his drive, because it's close to 5 hours for him, and it's only 1:40 for me. I can't even finish listening to 2 CDs! :D

That big chockstone looks like the one in Artist Drive Dip#2 Canyon, right where the rockslide is. See my photo from 16 March 2008, below yours for comparison, with my backpack for scale. It looks like a lot of sediment has washed down below the chockstone between March 2008 and this New Year's when you were there. And it looks like more erosion has occurred, and white rocks are now exposed by the girl's feet in your photo. When Rick and I were there, it was a solid 10-foot drop from the lip to the floor. The girl's head is at the same level as the lip of the dryfall in your photo.

They don't get much rain there, but it just takes a decent storm or two to make changes in those canyons.

Unfortunately, it's hard to see because our photos are taken from different levels, but I think that is the same chockstone. If it's the one right upstream from the rockslide in Dip#2 Canyon, it is the same place for sure.

I coaxed my wife up the slope above the 'badlands' a couple of years ago. She swears I was trying to kill her!
