Dave .... it's 78 degrees right now. All the snow/ice is melting. Almost got sunstroke yesterday in JT.

I've been curious about that too .. last time I was at Lodgepole was in Dec. to do Silliman, and I didn't bother walking up into the Tokopah Valley

The Seki webcam at the Giant Forest has 10-day temp. trends .. granted it's at a lower elevation, but it doesn't look too hopeful :(

I did see ice on the north shore of Silliman Lake though :)

There you go.....hittin' dah leftover "stubble" again. The closest to dat temp (65 F) is at Ash Mountain Visitor Center (3900'), Goofy!

Your sistah Deb and I climbed ice at June Lake yesterday (7000') and it was in the 50's. Nuthin' like WI3 to break in dah tools.

Nah, we didn't have time to hit up Horsetail. We simply did Roadside, which was pretty fat and was reaching up to 110'. Found some thin stuff in the middle of Roadside. Got some photos but they're on Facebook. Nice shot of Deb workin' dem toos!

Thanks for the info Rob! Good to know. Looks Like snow forecasted up at Lodgepole 2moro (70%).

Actually, Tokopah Falls is at an elevation of ~7400', not 9100' as in the NOAA link. The Giant Forest webcam is at an elevation of 6500'. Shouldn't be too hard to extrapolate.

My bad. Thought I had the "cross hairs" on the right elevation.

Hey Dave, there's the Main Wall in Lee Vining if you want WI4.

Thanks Kev! We heard it was in. Being the n00b ice climber, I wonder if I'm capable yet to lead WI4. Already lead WI3 and it feels pretty darn good (just need to always remember to keep the heels down). Are you still planning the Black Kaweah gig?

Hey Dave,

You can get on the leftmost line on Chounard Falls, WI3+ and see how you feel. That's also in.

Yep, still planning to head out into the abyss, Black Kaweah, in February. Want to come? We need more fools to break trail for Bob and Rick's dayhiking ambition.
