Orizaba in April / May

by crowsama » Fri Feb 12, 2010 7:39 am

Hey y'all

Wasn't really planning on it, but things have opened in my life and I have ~3 months of in-between time starting this April. After a failed attempt @ orizaba in 12/08 (not enough acclimatization,) I'd like to take another shot at it.

Most accounts list April as a possibility, but just wanted to see how realistic that is. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Erik

Anyone have info for likely conditions late April?

Also, is the road to La Joya on Izta likely to be driveable in a rental car (2wd) the last two weeks of April?

Thanks,
JimS

April is likely fine for both- dry season typically ends in late March. You might get some snow in April higher-up, but chances are you'd be fine. I don't have any reason to expect the road to La Joya would be a problem for 2WD vehicles. I think you park ~100m below the former La Joya now at "La Joyallita".
