Hole in the Mountain Peak - difficulty?

by hgrapid » Thu May 20, 2010 9:51 pm

I am headed to Salt Lake City for July 4th, from Reno and considering hitting Hole-in-the-Mountain Peak on the way. It seems short, but steep. Anyone every climb it? Is it pretty safe? I know it is hard, but seems like pretty doable given the short distance. Just a slog up boulders?

This time of the year it is a fun snow climb. There is one section of ridge that is pretty narrow, otherwise just a long snowslog and scramble (assuming safe snow conditions). Here's our trip report:

Thanks. That doesn't look too bad. I will hike during July 4th weekend, so I think it will be snow free, or not much snow. Certainly won't need crampons.
