Did Anyone Venture into the Minarets this Weekend?

by David and Karen » Mon Jun 28, 2010 4:06 pm

When the road opened last Thursday I thought we would get a tsunami of reports from the area - so far all I've seen is the one tweet from the National Forest about the Shadow Lake trail (patchy snow)

Has anyone seen any of the big lakes recently: Ediza, Garnet & Thousand Island?

Hoping to raft one of them this weekend, really need to know how much the've melted (if at all)

Thanks

I day hiked up to Ediza on Monday. The trail was mostly snow free, except for about the last 1/4 mile or so. The lake itself was still frozen, but seemed to be melting out pretty fast. Just the outlet is open.

Great shot! Almost looks like winter back there.
