Hikes/climbs near Lugano

What kind of trip are you looking for, a ferrata in the town of Lugano or Marinelli coloir two driving hours away?

Ok, the longer story. I have to be in Lugano for work this monday and tuesday. But they agreed to give me a day of on friday and fly me in early. I arrive in Milan on friday morning and basically have the weekend (and friday) to enjoy myself.

However, since I don't have a car there I'm not really flexible. So I thought I'd just take a train to Lugano and spend the weekend hiking up some small mountains or doing a hike around the lake. If it were possible to hike up something higher, that would be GREAT. But I don't know the area at all and can't find much info (don't have much time either as it's really busy right now). Also, since I'm solo, rock climbing isn't really an option. Some light scrambling obviously isn't a problem.

Thanks for any input!
Ps: I'd like to hang around quite close to Lugano since I'm working on moving there permanently and don't know the area that well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Gino group should be the closest to Lugano?

Monte Grande (2136m)
Cima Verta (2094m)
Monte Albano (2027m)
Pizzo di Gino (2245m)
Cima Pianchette (2156m)
Monte Tabor (2079m)
Monte Bregagno (2107m)

2000m is higher than I thought I'd get around Lugano so that would be very nice. Only problem is that it's still quite far away. I might try to rent a bike or something to get there. But it will still be quite a ride (40km).

Monte Garzirola (2116m) could be the easiest (finest) choice : you need to use the postal bus to val Colla
you could make a fine trip crossing the ridge from Monte Bar to Garzirola and coming down to Colle San Lucio

Gabriele, I've looked into this and I think I've located Val Colla (red dot). I haven't figured out yet where I could take a bus, but I'd figure it out once I'm there. From there, would it be hard to find the route up Gazirolla?

I have however no idea where Monta Bar or Colle San Lucio (is that where the Rifugio San Lucio is?) are located. Could you point me in the right direction (North, West,...)? How hard do you think this trip would be and would it take me about two days?

the starting point is Corticiasca - up to monte Bar - ridge to Garzirola - down (S) to S.Lucio - back on foot to Bogno or Scareglia
I did it with skis 5 or 6 times some years ago, starting from Milan at 7 in the morning, we used to take here the learners at the first lesson of my ski-mountaneering school
If you like it you could also, from Colle S.Lucio, follow the ridge to gain the Cima di Foiorina
