LOST MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR EV2 TENT

by dclaric » Mon Jul 26, 2010 10:41 pm

 This weekend I lost my Mountain Hardwear EV2 tent on Mt Hood (Don't ask why I brought it - I know it was overkill!). If you found it and would like to make me very very happy, please respond. Thanks.

Excuse the insensitivity, but how the fuck do you lose your tent?

What a way to introduce one self with to SP.

Gotta admit, you had to have known you would have encountered a ration of shit for such a bizarre mistake..... but then again.

Oh c'mon, give the guy a break :)

Last year I lost a tent too -- a BD Firstlight. Posted it on this thread. Someone found it and mailed it back to me. Made me very happy.

I'd packed it in one of those slippery silnylon stuff sacks and strapped it to the outside of my pack. Probably slipped out while I was glissading Green Butte Ridge. It was a very warm day, and the snow was slushy & wet. After getting the tent back I sewed daisy chain loops onto the stuff sack, which prevented a similar occurrence.

It has since gone up Shasta several other times, various other winter/spring trips and just recently spent some time in the Palisades.

I have fond memories of trips in my old EV2, which I sold this spring -- apparently the Caltech Alpine Club is getting good use out of it :)

Great idea -- they have a Lost & Found forum, as does Mountainproject.

Thanks, Rhyang!
That is exactly what happened. One of the bottom straps on my backpack broke while I was running down hill in the slushy snow. I wasn't paying attention and it was gone.
I will try the other post sites!
