What position is that? Why not? I'm also curious.

And are you a Murkowski or a Miller man? Let's open this up!

(Well said Buz)

The peak is "S" in this AAJ photo:

If she wants to name it, then they need to make her solo the damned thing.

The peak should be named after Harry Reid. Stevens was an inferior piker.

Well the bill's passed both House and Senate already--seems to have taken only about 2 weeks (so much for gridlock!).

No wonder this country is so messed up.
We have mountains/peaks named after politicians, CEO misers and businessmen and ballparks, concert venues and ampitheaters named after
corporations & banks. Says a lot about who our leadership and representitive's admire and look up to.
By the way, this post was brought to you by Starbucks, General Mills and Colorado State University.

I'd rather see it named something more appropriate like, Washburn Peak or the likes.

I guess now they will have a Stevens Peak that folks can call Mount Corrupt Douchebag.

Freakin awesome!!!

Why not just leave it unnamed? I think the vast number of nameless and beautiful mountains is one of the the things that gives Alaska its special appeal, that sense that there are still places on this planet where you can feel like you discovered something. But if they insist on naming it, I agree that Washburn would be a more worthy and fitting choice.

I thought Waterman might be more appropriate, after Jonny Mallon Waterman who left his tracks all over the south side of the mountain. As a fitting tribute for the family name - Guy Waterman, Jonny's father, was an influential climber and author from back east.
