Lassen Snow Conditions ???

by killingcokes » Sun Jul 31, 2011 6:19 am

Heading that way from Colorado next week and I was wondering if there was any snow on the Northeast Face. Would stopping be worth it or should I just head to Mt Shasta. What I'm specifically wondering is whether there is enough snow for skiing. Any recent pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the beta

Here was a Lassen skiing post from 7/22-

http://unofficialnetworks.com/summer-sk ... 011-32226/

From the latest Shasta climbing report-

http://www.shastaavalanche.org/advisori ... g-advisory

Avalanche Gulch Route-
"Ski conditions are poor at 10,500 feet and below....sun cups and runnels are growing in size and the snow is very soft and sticky in the afternoon. Above 11,000 ft., some good turns are still out there!"

West Face-
"The West Face is currently in good shape and hosts some decent skiing."

Thanks alot. Think I'll hit both. Been meaning to get something other than the Tenmile Range done this season.
