Looks a bit like the upper Kaprun reservoir in Austria, part of a hydroelectric power system, but not quite. Something similar nearby maybe.

Could it be something in Spain ? One of the wallpaper's said "Spanish Pictures" in the URL.

All I know ... it's a DAM picture ! Because, it has a dam in it.

The peak is not in Idaho. There are no dams anywhere near the Stanley area and all the lakes in the Sawtooths are natural. It looks European to me.

I didn't really notice the dam, but the trees seem to go too far up the slopes to be anything in the Sawtooths. For what it is worth, I spoke to my friend who led our hikes out Idaho and the day that I took the photo that had a somewhat similar mountain, we did Bench Lakes.

Yep, they are in Aigüestortes NP, The Pyrenees. The lake is called Estany de Sant Maurici

I have exactly the same question about a Mountain. As I register here, I saw this topic, so A am asking here, not to make another one.
I have this picture from old Russian book about mountains. The description there is "Qogori (K2), Second highest mountain in the World". I am very familiar with the area of K2, so obviously this is not K2. The problem is, I never ever saw again another picture ot that misterious mountain. And I has looked literally thousands of pictures of mountains in the whole world. I dont know even if the photo is right, or mirrored, so I post both variants (In the same book there are some mirrored photos, so this might be the case).
I have some guesses about the mountain, but never saw them from that perspective. I have been thinkink about: Angel Peak (K2's neibour); Masherbrum (not likely); Some peak around Nanda Devi (the background peak looks like Changabang); Some peak around Snow Lake in Karakorum; Or maybe it is not in Asia at all, maybe in Cordilera Blanca in Andes, or some other subrange...
Every suggestion is welcome. Here is the photo:

Re big mountain pix: John Roskelly's 1978 view looking down the NE ridge of K2- they did not complete the climb, but got far enuf to get great scenes such as above, then went back to the regular route by which they climbed the mountain.

Actually, it is K2 (but not the summit).

The caption of the photo is as follows:

Two climbing teams from the 1978 American Expedition led by Jim Whittaker crossing a tricky section of the crest. In these situations the climber must be extremely careful not to climb to close to the peak of the ice rib, as his weight might cause the unstable snow to collapse.

So which is the mountain in the background? Tried using Google Earth but maybe the vertical resolution isn't quite there to get the topography right.

Trying to find this Enchanted mountain in Austria was pretty futile. It seems that the most popular mountain lake combinations are Moraine lake and its ten peaks along with Tetons over lakes or the Snake River in the foreground-Mt. Moran forms its own cadet Tetons pairing. Shuksan/Shuksan lake, Maroon Bells/Lake are a little less popular than the first 2.

I'm wondering if Bob Ross invented the genre, or if the Moraine Lake/ten peaks gave rise to Bob Ross.
