Big walls of the Wallowas...climbable?

by trogman » Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:03 pm

Has anyone ever climbed the steep walls in the wallowas? Particularly the ones on the Matterhorn/Sacajawea, south side I believe? I've heard they are some type of granite. Are they climbable?

The Matterhorn is limestone. The Wallowas are a mishmash of a lot of different rock types. I think the Elkhorns have the most granite climbing in Oregon, which isn't saying much.
