I like jagged looking peaks and sharp ridges myself. I like the Trangos and Cerro Torre. Though as far as that list goes I have always had a crush on the Matterhorn and the fluting on Alpamayo is beautiful too. Ama Dablam, Les Drus, Shivling are all great looking in my opinion. Some may have been picked for being huge but they could've included Mount Logan for that, it's a gigantic hunk of land mass if ever there was one!! They could've included Black Tusk mountain in B.C. for just being plain old weird. In fact they should make a 'What the? How did that happen?' mountain list. Honestly I could never name one as the most beautiful. They all have nice characteristics but some are more my taste then others.

I've been priveledged enough to visit the Andes (Cordillera Occidental and Oriental), Alps, Dolomites, Sierra Nevada, Sierra Madre, Rockies (Colorado and Canada), Cascades, Olympics, and High Atlas. There are a few areas that stand out far ahead of the others. From what I have seen, the most alluring in Washington state is the Southern Picket Range while the best in North America is Wenkchemna Peaks near Lake Louise. The area around Aconcagua is pretty stunning but the biggest knock-out view I can remember is in the High Atlas in Morocco (forgot my camera that day). I have not yet visited the Himalaya but Ama Dablam is hard to beat.

Come on. No votes for Mt Asgard, Thor or the Baffin island?

WOW It is quite beautiful. Have you been there by an chance? Weather in the area is very unstable and it is hard to get there yeah?

There is a load of beautiful peaks. Some really great looking ones around alaska too.

Sierra also has a few good mountains...(My photos) Would love to post Mt. Goode, Dragtooth, and Merriam. Hopefully will climb their North Buttresses this summer... : ) I have some Hulk photos too, but not on this PC..

Here's a couple of my Sierra pictures to supplement The Chief and Vitaliy.

Mt. Goode is a really shapely mountain from this angle:

Mt. Tom is an absolute monster viewed from anywhere in the valley or in the mountains. I'm so glad I climbed it but I'll never do it again.

For me, the Palisades take the cake in the Sierra though:

Afzals picture of Uli Biaho makes every other mountain look like a molehill though:

Very nice.
I only wish I could live 200 years or so - I could visit all these mountains!

Not mentioned but would be near the top of my list : Mt Kailas (Tibet), Half Dome*, Assiniboine*, and IMHO if you must rank them Cotopaxi is the prettier than Chimborazo. Already mentioned the top of my list would include Shuksan*, Robson, Ama Dablam*, Alpamayo, Shivling and this peak* in Ladakh I don't know the name of, I just liked the colors and it was a good day:

*= peak I have seen live

There is no mountain I can say is more beautiful than the rest "by far", there are probably hundreds that I could call the world's most beautiful on any given day given the right conditions.

I would say more like from Chocolate Peak. Hurd Peak would show a direct on (12-6 o'clock 0 to180 deg) due south aspect view of the NB of Goode, where as this shot shows more of SW (2-8 o'clock - from the NE) aspect view that includes the obvious bench above Saddle Rock Lake that leads to the base of the DNB of Goode.

I have a preference for steep spiky mts like Alpamayo, K2, Matterhorn etc..
Asgard & Mt Thor on Baffin Island are simply stunning.

I find this article focuses too much on "popular" mts.. yes, and to sell plane tickets.
