Great photos, sm0421! I especially like the lighting in the 2nd shot.

I finished the southern 6-pack this weekend. There were surprisingly few people there for a weekend in mid May. I had the summit all to myself on 4 of the 6 HPs. Only 5 more to go...!

You saved some of the most exciting high points for this last weekend I see, haha! Do you have a date set when you will have them all done?

Mt Rogers was great! It was foggy which gave the place a mystical/magical feeling. I really enjoyed that hike.

I will finish with Mauna Kea on or near 3-6-12. I've got some close friends and family teed up to join me. It should be a nice celebration. :)

I'm doing southern six pack in September I'm very excited. Did you see any wild ponies? I am planning on doing Ky & VA in one day and also GA & SC in one day do you foresee that being a problem?

Good luck on Briton Hill Alpinist make sure you acclimatize

HaHa! You should be able to do each pair of HPs in a day so long as you have everything mapped out ahead of time. I somehow missed the Rt 160 exit for KY and ended up taking a circuitous route to get there. You get on some of those back roads and you can easily add an extra hour to the drive...

My schedule was TN/GA/SC on day 1, NC/KY on day 2, and VA on day 3. I also had a flight to catch out of Knoxville the evening of day 3. Thankfully, the roads were pretty empty.

I didn't see any wild ponies in VA but I spoke with some AT hikers who did. The ponies were further down the AT in an area where I didn't hike. I hiked the northern route from VA-603. There's no page for it yet on SP but I'll add a route page for it when I get a few minutes. It's a beautiful hike, 13 miles RT.

Alpinist, congratulations on progressing towards your goal. I hope/expect to get down to Mt. Rogers on a weekend trip some time this summer.

OK, I put up a new route page for the Mount Rogers Trail. Feedback is welcomed.

If you take the normal route up Rogers (on SP its labeled: 4.5 mile Appalachian Trail route) you should see many ponies. I did this at night and my friend and I tried mounting some of the wild ponies for a ride. It didn't end to well but made for good jokes for the rest of the trip!

Mt. Rogers ranked # 1 on my list of 30 highpoints so far, it's so beautiful and family friendly...

I did some 1,300 miles driving in 1. 5days and hiked Woodall, Britton Hill and Clingmans Dome, met summit poster/highpointer John on top of Woodall mtn! He did 16 so far but all the big ones! (Denali, Rainier, etc...)

It was a Saturday morning when I arrived at Woodall Mtn and I was driving and saw this guy walking up the hill, I immediately knew he was a highpointer and happy to discover he is a summitposter!

See some reports http://www.summitpost.org/summitposter-on-top-of-woodall-mtn/716011, I'll try to write up a report for each highpoint I have visited.

Make sure you send in a write-up to Apex to Zenith when you finish the big five-oh! 8)

I may do that while sipping on a mai tai on the Kona Coast... 8)

Is anyone interested the 3 peaks in LA, MO and AR? Flying in Little Rock, AR and it's a 1085 miles trip, easily done in a weekend (fly in Friday night, out Sunday noon)...
