Middle Palisade Conditions?

by BrianBanta » Mon Jun 04, 2012 4:49 pm

Hey,

Looking for a conditions update on South Fork Trail and the Middle Palisade route. Anybody been up there recently? Heading up this coming weekend. Thanks!

Attempted Mid May. Approach is just fine. We stopped about 400-500 feet from the summit due to unstable snow over rock conditions.

Anyone been up there recently?

I'm going up this weekend and am wondering how much snow/ice is in the chutes on the NE face

Climbed it June 23. Very little snow in the chutes - none that can't be bypassed very easily, and melting very fast. The conditions are ideal right now because the snow at the top of the left side glacier is perfect to gain access to the ledge easily (I could access it easily with ice axe, no crampons). Don't know how long it'll last. Have fun.
