Fellow (and aspiring) volcanic cascade climbers

by Easterly » Thu Feb 07, 2013 3:58 am

I am simply looking for people to climb Baker, Adams, Hood, and/or ultimately Rainier during May and June. My climbing resume is short, having only reached the summit of one glaciated peak (Shuksan), but my nature is deliberate, calculating, and receptive to instruction. I am physically fit to climb any mountain, but technical skills are lacking and mostly unpracticed since that climb almost two years ago. I am not a "summit-bagger" and am not interested in acquiring bragging rights. What drives me are my memories of Shuksan and the North Cascades, the long cold climb through the night into a beautiful day with my fellow Mountain Madness-ers (Seattle-based school/guide service). To experience such beauty with like-minded company is the main goal of my invitation.

If anyone would like to join me, my first responsibility to you would be to state that I will, without second thought, abort any climb if conditions appear dangerous. The second would be that I continue studying mountaineering safety practices to ensure that I am prepared for the mountain.

If there is any interest, you can email me at mdcompass@gmail.com.

Hope to see you on the mountain,

M
