The Wild East: A Biography of the Great Smoky Mountains

by MarkDidier » Tue Oct 20, 2015 1:40 am

I picked this book up during my trip to the Smokies this past June. I found it to be an enjoyable read. Highly recommended for any fan of the Smoky Mountains. Lots of history in here, including - background/politics on the formation of the park, the logging history, building Fontana Dam, the North Shore Road and the Road to Nowhere, animal management issues/practices, amongst other topics.
