Does anyone have a clue where to get any type of hiking or outdoor style pant with 38 inseam and 34 waist.

No such thing. Outdoorsy type people are all short, fat, and knock-kneed. For proof, look at the sizes offered by the major outdoor brands and retailers.

Get a pair of 34 x 30 and sew a pair of gaiters onto the bottoms.

Check the Scandinavian brand Fjällräven.

Some of the pants use a so called 'raw length', which is somewhere between 94-100cm (37-39inch) for size L/XL. The pants lenght should be made to fit by the consumer.
Don't know the availability in the US though.

I really love their Abisko pants for trekkings, also because of their raw length, since I need 36-37 inch.

It's true. I wear a 36"inseam and it's not easy to find in outdoor apparel at all.

That's going to be basically impossible, at least from any regular outdoor company. I'm a 33 waist x 36 inseam and can hardly find anything good.

Mammut used to make extra long softshell pants (denoted by a 100 size, like 104, 106 etc) but they were expensive and almost impossible to find. Haglofs make long pants but not long enough and very hard to find outside of Sweden. I do have a 34x36 pair of EddieBauer First Ascent Pro Guide soft-shell pants which are good, but light and even then I had them let down and taped at the hem to get a bit of extra length.

For years I got stuff custom made at BeyondClothing.com and used to recommend them but a few years ago they got bought out and turned into, um... something else. Anyway, no custom stuff like before.

Closest might be to ask a US company like Bill at http://nwalpine.com/store-1/thielsen-pant though I'm not sure he could justify custom jobs. Maybe if 20 of us ordered at once? ;-)

http://foxwear.net

Lou makes custom sizes all the time, very reasonable prices.

Give the Montura Vertigo Light a try, they come in +7cm length (total about 36 inch inseam). I'm 6"4 and they fit me ok...38 inseam will be impossible. Fjallraven was mentioned....bad quality though.
