Prusik Peak info

by Norman » Thu Aug 11, 2022 4:58 pm

Finally got a permit for core Enchantments...amazing... I was in there after graduating from High School in 1971...no permits then. So, we want to climb Prusik Peak, west ridge, but I don't want to lug in more gear than I have to. What is the shortest rope for raps... or pitches we can take and make it work ?
Thanks
Norman

300 feet minimum. Ropes are light these days. You can short other gear to save weight, but never short your ropes.

Two of us climbed West Ridge of Prusik Peak using a 60 meter rope. The relief on the climb is only 400 feet or so, why you would recommend 300 feet of rope as a minimum? Plus we did snag once on rap route... can't imagine pulling 300 feet on that decent? FYI.
