Remains of Fred Claussen found under Whorl Mountain

by QITNL » Sun Sep 05, 2010 1:41 am

I was reading up on the Matterhorn Peak area and noticed a few pages with a chapter entitled: "Fred Claussen is still missing..."

Apparently no more; it appears his remains have been recovered:

Incredible, I've been really close to his resting place twice in the last few years. Most recent was a few weeks ago on my Whorl attempt.

Thanks for the post. I've always wondered what happened to him. We were backpacking up in that area when search and rescue teams were out looking for him.
