In General did add test post to another thread. Only seems to send me to my USER PAGE per below link when trying to post a new topic in the General forum?

This has been a problem for a while and the only solution is to log out and log back in. If you still can't create a new topic on the General forum, it may be a permissions issue. Let me know if that is the case...

Thanks Matt,

What browser are you using? Send me your login information via PM and I'll try to replicate the issue.

Hi Silvia, are you saying that the private message (PM) system on SP isn't working right now?[/quote]

Yes, it seems that the PM system isn't working well now. If I send the message to any member the message doesn't start and the answer is: HTTP ERROR 500.
Instead, if i send the message to the elf box - in this case i don't need to type the name because the recipient (The Elves) is preset - the message starts.

I just sent you a PM and received no error. It appears to have gone through fine.

Is anyone else having problems with the PM system?

This morning did not see that behavior so possibly after you did whatever yesterday, it also required not only logging off summitpost but also closing my browser. Use multiple browser and yesterday was using Firefox.

Thanks Matt, I've received your message correctly. It seems that I have trouble setting the name of the recipient, the system does not receive it. When I type the recipient's name the characters do not turn blue (clickable) and the message does not start. Yesterday to write to a member I had to devise this system: i used a previous message - I kept it in my archive - that he sent me a few months ago, sending it back to the sender and modifying the title and content.

Interesting. Who is the person you are trying to send to? If you'd rather not say on the public forum, just reply to the PM I sent you yesterday with the name of the person and I'll test to see if I can replicate it and possibly fix the issue.

I have verified that there was, in fact, a bug in the code that happened when we moved to the new server. Thanks for finding it and reporting it!

I believe it is fixed now. Please try again and see if you are able to send a PM to someone when typing in their username.

Matt: I recall that you recently said new users now don't need mod approval to post, but after more than a year my posts still need it (and sometimes stay in limbo indefinitely). Is this a feature or a bug?

There seems to be a bug with the new drop-down menu ("...") that's part of the overhead bar. When opened on a forum page, it splits below the header.

It seems to me that "Forums" should be among the shown links at the top of the page and not within the "..." pull down, in favor of one of the others not as commonly linked to. I mean do people click on "Area & Ranges" more than "Forums"? I doubt it.

Each link type should have a hit count and the top 6 get placed on the top.

I agree with Klenke. An active forum will draw more people to the site than other things. A way to have it more active is to have it more prominent. In addition, I think it should go back to displaying latest posts on the front page.
