They've just moved him out of the ICU (YEA!!!) and into another rehab-type unit in the same hospital.

We were able to retreive Rob's stuff from his car today -- wow, his car was sure a lot shorter than it used to be.

I also read him some of the P&P "drama" and he got a real kick out of it! :P

WAY TO GO ROB!!!!

Hey all,

Rob was talking with Craig when I arrived. As Keema said, he's having another surgery tomorrow. His neurosurgeon told him that if he had a sedentary lifestyle, it would not be necessary. Since he is a climber and athlete, he is going to get (how to say this politely?) “a new rod and eight screws.” Plans for transfer to the rehab facility are not finalized, but in motion. Possibly next week. My guess it will depend on tomorrow’s operation.

It has been a pleasure for me, my wife and daughter to get to know Rob. Even under these trying and stressful circumstances, he has been upbeat, pleasant, and fun to be with. When I told him Jeff Lowe posted his best wishes to Rob on Supertopo, Rob went into full “I am not worthy” mode. Too funny. He has a long road to travel, and will have peaks and valleys during his recovery. Continue with your prayers, vibes, psychic energy, etc. He appreciates it.

Kris,

Just saw your post. He's in North Tower Room 4444, Memorial Hospital, 1700 Coffee Rd., Modesto, 95350. Brand new wing of the hospital. Private room to boot. He has no IVs and is bitching about the food.

They'll be required to show the entire rod and all the screws with it... well, on the x-ray films that is. :D

I'm sure Jello can relate too!  We'll be thinking of you Rob when we go out this weekend. we'll have to get you out to the "secret climbing spot" (shhhhhhh!) and pull down on some beautiful Sierra golden granite. As the iconic 70's saying goes, "Keep on truckin'!"

...And he gets 8 screws with that rod. I wonder if the rod is no longer covered under warranty after that???

Hi Rob,

I have not been watching these threads for a while, and when I come back for a look I see this. I am so very sorry for your hardship.

I am a strong believer in the power of positive thinking. So keep a stiff upper lip, as they say, and take pleasure from the fact that so many good people care enough about you to ridicule you with such fondness. I hope to see you around a fire in Josh this winter...

Rob went into surgey about 1:30 this afternoon. Now's a good time for us all to pray, send vibes, fly our prayer flags, sacrifice goats, adopt a llama, or whatever we do do bring blessings to our friends.

The procedure should take about 4 hours. If all goes smoothly, he'll be back in his private room (North Tower 4444) this evening. I'll check in on him tomorrow. He'll probably be too doped up post-surgery tonight.

Everyone's support is really helping Rob.

Sending positive vibes to the surgens & hospital staff right now so that they can work their magic on Rob.

I think somebody better get him a sheep too!

I remember this being his profile image earlier this year.

"So many sheep, so little time!"

A rod and eight screws at one time? Better be a heavy duty rod!

Rob, get well soon!!!
