Definitely will reopen. I wouldn't be confident about Friday morning- based on the forecast. Maybe Saturday?

(Friday looks to be sunny)

Yeah, I just called and was very surprised to hear it's open and clear?! Not even chain restrictions even though it could still snow today; pretty rare for Yosemite. Guess they want the income :)

Good news! Does anybody have more details about road conditions can I make it up to Tuolomne in my crappy "compact" rental car? If I leave it overnight, what are my chances of making it back out on Monday?

The Lower Gate is open as is the Park gate from our side. Don't count on any plowing to have been do though. That is what I was just told by both my neighbor who is a County plower and my good buddy who is he local Caltrans Sup.

I doubt it will be a problem. But be aware there could be water on the road from melting snow & such, which may freeze overnight.

NWS Tioga Pass forecast sounds pretty good, though weather can change quickly this time of year. Might want to have the Caltrans road conditions number (1-800-427-7623) in your cell phone if for some reason you find yourself stuck on the eastside.

Gotcha! On the other hand, I doubt any snow will be left on the road by Sunday. Reason I'm asking is because I have a vehicle equipped with AWD and snow tires but I prefer to drive a more economical 2wd sedan if I can. Doesn't sound like that should be a problem though since the infoline mentions roads are open without restrictions.

Thanks for the info!!

Bruno, check out James' (F10) pics on this thread:

Sounds like a careful, but benign drive. Go slow! :o

Caltrans says Tioga Pass (SR120) is still open, while Sonora Pass (SR108) is closed again, due to snow. Ebbetts (SR4) and Monitor (SR89) are apparently still open.

Who knows what will happen .. if you are heading to the Valley or something from socal you may want to take the southern route instead.
