Hmm, the Caltrans site still shows Tioga and Sonora closed, Ebbets Open

Depressing...2 extra hours of driving will suck big time.

Can you post a photo of a newly caught "brown eye brookies" :roll: to make up for the bad news? Or photo of one of those secret routes only locals know about... :geek:

I need to get from Lee Vining to the west side near Bear Valley on SR4 the day before Christmas. Does Sonora Pass close for the entire season or just based on storms/snowfall? What is the best way to get there from Lee Vining?

The entire season. It won't open until May or June.

You need to go up almost all the way to South Lake Tahoe, I think 50 is the only route. Not sure if part of 88/89 might be open.

ahh, right...i was looking at several different roads before posting and named the wrong one. thanks for the correction...still gonna be driving a bit farther though unfortunately.

88 (Carson Pass) is usually open, if open likely much faster to Bear Valley vs. 50 when starting at Lee Vining
