Waterhouse Peak/Hope Valley

How are the conditions there? I'm thinking about snowshoeing up and snowboarding down a couple of times.

They should be primo. It snowed here in Christmas Valley about 3 inches last night and it is still cold today (friday). The Avy hazard is way down from last weekend but there are still some cornices and slabs that loaded up from some good wind during the week. Be safe enjoy!

Ahh that's fantastic news. I've never been up there in the winter before (hiked all through that area many times in the summer and fall and have always thought it looked perfect for some day trips) so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Have you ever checked out the area around Crater Lake, just a little south of Waterhouse?

Thanks for the report!
