Which Websites Offer Good Deals (or do you use)

by WouterB » Wed Jan 12, 2011 5:57 pm

Just moved to Switzerland and noticing that every single thing here is way more expensive than it was at home (Belgium). I'm now curious to find out which websites you use to buy your gear. Preferably they should ship to either Belgium or Switzerland.

If anyone knows if they will tax you again if you ship something to Switzerland, let me know as well!

I'm looking to buy: tourskis, tourski boots, tourski bindings, SteriPEN, gas or multifuel stove,... .

Jut buy your gear online in Poland with portals like http://www.allegro.pl :)
Been in Belgium for the 1st time lately (very short), but yes, all seemed cheaper than the standard in western europe, in france at least...

They seem to miss an English version of the website, but I'll give it a go using google translate... . Thanks!

I was able to browse the site with Google Translate, but they didn't seem to have most "specialized" gear. Prices were good though, just didn't have what I was looking for (or I missed it).

Google translate is not very accurate with mountain gear. Just let me know the precise things you need and I'll try to help

Thanks! But the Euro is doing quite bad now, so I'll have to look into how interesting this is. Met a Belgian girl - who's living just across the border in Italy - last night. And I could ship stuff there and then drive it across the border.

Found Ricardo.ch, which seems to be quite interesting here in Switzerland. Would be interesting for me too. Were it not that nobody in Ticino seems to use it.

Hhm I always had the opinion Belgium wasn't cheap at all compared to the alpine countries, but maybe Switzerland is just expensive.
In Germany I used globetrotter.de and http://www.sport-schuster.de/
Or in Chech-Republic http://www.huskycz.cz/

Or go a weekend to Chamonix or the some of the Italian shops around lake garda (I have never been there, but I've heared they have loads of cheap gear there)

You've got the Globetrotter (www.globetrotter.de/) shops in Germany. Not the cheapests but the stores are really nice !

Globetrotter could work, but it's a bit far away for me right now. Also I'm worried about import tax, so I'd rather drive over to Italy at this point to "smuggle" it in in the car. Hell, if it's expensive gear, I could even walk it in :).

Japatta, if you were to know the name/address of any of the stores around lake Garda, please do let me know!

I dont know about prices, but good European gear porn to be had at : http://www.cham3s.com/cataloguepdf/catalogue_hiver_2011.pdf

Also, once again, I cant confirm good prices or not but telemark pyrennes have been around for quite some time http://www.telemark-pyrenees.com/en/

*edit...hmm looking at the cham3 catalogue, Lapsortiva have a new boot out, the Batura Evo....

Isn't it Schengen in Switzerland now ? Just put it deep in the boot and that's all ! I've "almost" crossed the border of Hungary and Ukraine but turned back for passport reasons. They gave up searching my car as they found stinky socks still wet from the hike on Ineu, so why bothering about the german border ? :D

From what I've been hearing around here, it is a problem.
