Wildspitze in Summer

by Lodewijk » Wed Jan 20, 2010 2:09 pm

What is the difficulty of the Normal Route to Wildspitze? (the SP page is not too detailed about that)
And what kind of gear do i need? crampons, ropes etc? (my plans are to go in the last week of august)
thanks!

With good conditions easy snow plod, otherwise perhaps icy but not too steep.

2x yes. The usual normal routes have crevasses.

With all respect of course
If you have to ask these questions you have no business on this mountain.

Thanks for the info. I have some experience with for example crossing glaciers etc but to be sure I think I will book a guide for safety.

Or hook up with some climbers wo have climb such mountains before.
It's not so much the technical part, but more the crevasses and routefinding if the weather turns bad that can become a problem.
A lot of people underestimate that.
