Winter storm on Quandary
A cold/awesome/windy adventure in the middle of winter at 14,000 ft! very fun, and surprisingly we weren't the only party on the mountain. the winds at the summit must have been at least 80 mph.

5th 14er on the day
We decided to do Quandary after doing Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron and Bross. We started late for that combo so we started Quandary at 4:00pm. We made it down by 8pm. Lots of mountain goats and great views. Almost everyone was off the mountain so it was kinda nice to have a 14er to yourself
I led this trip with 4 other hikers through meetup.com. The place was a madhouse. We arrived at the trailhead just after 6AM, and there were already a whole bunch of cars parked along McCullough Gulch Road, and more coming in behind us. We reached the summit around 8:45 and there was a good sized crowd up there. There is still some snow up on the summit ridge. Weather was great, a little windy up top, but it was sunny, with great views. When we got back down to Point 13146, we could see a great big conga line of people headed up to the summit. We saw a couple of mountain goats hanging around the trail on the way down. A great day all in all.
One of the easiest winter forteeners. Great glissade on the way back.

Winter is the best
Short climb only about four hours but very cold and windy. Could only see about ten feet in front of me the entire way. Went with a friend but we both were out of each others site for most of the climb. thank god for GPS.

Close but no cigar!
Came to within a hundred feet of the summit via the standard eastern ridge. The wind was oppressive and limited visibility to approximately 20 or 30 feet. Very worth while though as it proved extremely gratifying have made it as far as we did!

via the coulior
Me and Joe climbed Quandary coulior as a winter ascent. Weather was pretty good, snow was stable in most places. Approach took almost 5 hours--postholing to the waist almost every step. Had some mismangements in hydration--only 1/2 L of H20 car to car in 12 hours for me. Good to know my body functions well under stress and dehydration at altitude, though. No real complaints. Just another great alpine day.
