Red-spotted Newt

Red-spotted Newt

A red-spotted newt on the Art Loeb Trail, near Sorrell Creek, on the way to the top of Cold Mountain. I remember seeing lots of these guys when I lived in Pennsylvania and always thought they were quite beautiful. I believe they are only this orange in the springtime when they are still young. It is quite a cute little guy. (May 9, 2009)

Brings back memories:

Of a time when I discovered "Rough-skinned
Newts" taking advantage of the humidity and
moisture of Swan Creek Canyon, near my native
city near Tacoma, WA.

Do they ever break the mold of being cute???

Re: Brings back memories:

Thanks lcarreau!

These guys bring back memories for me of walking around the forests of northern PA where I grew up. I am glad the little guy stirred up some memories.

Re: Awesome shot!

Thanks! They are very neat little guys. I was actually pretty amazed that my camera captured it so well.
