Rezija valley (Val Resia) from Visoki Kanin

A big window in clouds still allow us to see from the summit of Visoki Kanin down in the valley of Rezija/Resia. In this remote valley people are speaking a very distinct and authentic dialect. They are a community of their own, only in modern days a bit more connected with the rest of the world. The ascent on Kanin from Rezija is very high, but this is their home mountain. In the middle of the picture, there's Lopič/Monte Plauris, the westernmost summit of Julian Alps. Summer, 2009.
