CMC
Perfect snow conditions in the right fork of the CMC. The final step to the east summit was harder icy rock.

Last of the snow
Had snow going up the regular route then it cleared off. Finished off by doing Sisters on the ridge.

Beginner Backpack Trip
I was leading a beginner backpacking trip for CHAOS to the area. Deeper snows than expected dashed our original plans, but the W Ridge route was just clear enough to be a good scramble despite the snow and tennis shoes!
I loved the hike up Round Top from Carson Pass. In the early 90's when I lived in the area, I loved the times I hiked up this peak. The views of the lakes below were sublime. I really have fond memories of the Carson Pass area.
This was a ski/climb trip. Climbed up to the shoulder to the west of round top, skirted towards the backside of the mountain, and climbed up to the summit. Easy climbing, great conditions in winter, and way fun!

West Ridge
Summer afternoon hike from Carson Pass. Had the summit to myself- didn't see anyone past Winnemucca Lake. Tagged the easternmost of The Sisters on the descent.

Trail?
Hiked the trail? most of the way with Dean. Still lots of snow covering the trail. The scramble to the top was a little challenging.

Crescent Moon Couloir (right fork)
Sick with nerves and second guessing an attempt on Crescent Moon Couloir, I still wasn't 100% decided on whether to do the thing while standing at the base of it. After everyone's tales and recommendations making the exit sound horrifying (in MY mind) and not so tasty for a soloist, I half made up my mind to go West Ridge. Somehow, without really thinking any further, I donned crampons and began stomping up the couloir.....37 minutes later I was up the exit and wondering where all this spicey, dicey exit shit was supposed to be. ? Steep, yes, but nothing that made me say "Yikes!" Scrambled to summit; hardest part of the trip was down-climbing that crap in boots but it was fun.
Loved every minute of it except following those stupid blue markers in the woods and getting lost on the way back too.......WAAAY to hot to be goofing around extra miles out there.
Oh yeah, hit up The Sisters too. :)
4x summiting Round Top, second time via couloir. Snow conditions are still good. Was bitterly cold until about noon when the wind died.

Great weather and solid conditions made this a really fun climb. It was steep but no protection required.

My first alpine climb and backcountry ski trip
My first trip on backcountry skis, from Carsons pass to just below the rocky summit, then a scramble to the top, which felt a lot more than a scramble to me at the time. Trip was with Doug Robinson
Eastern crag is worth traversing over to and is a fun little class 3 climb

A fun and relatively easy peak even in the winter time. Good skiing from the saddle back to Lake Winnemucca.

Stormy but sunny day
Beautiful dayhike from Woods lake to Round Top Lake and summit, descent via Winnemucca Lake. Perfect sunny day, great views. Very strong winds at the summit ridge, it was difficult to stay upright.

Crescent Moon Couloir
Brought a rope but never felt the need to use it. It did get a little steep and rocky at the top though. Nice class 3 at the summit. Loved every bit of it! Boot skied on the descent.
I climbed Round Top many times and it was always great. Awesome views from the top on a clear day. The last bit up from Round Top Lake looks a little bit intimidating but it's a really fun rock scramble. I'd like to go back though and do it when there is a lot of snow on top (crampons, ice axe).
What a great mountain!
