Need to go back
Used San Gorgonio as a practice run for Whitney a few years back, and in some ways found it more challenging. Made it to the summit and back in one day, what a long hike!

Climbing Greyback
Got off to a late start which was a mistake since it was memorial day weekend and all the Vivian creek permits were taken up. At that point had to change the route and settled on taking the south fork trail and then dollar lake trail to summit. With a very late start time I had to really book it up the mountain, but it was great walking over the crest... just me and greyback. Felt spiritually re-charged after this hike.

Vivian Creek
Hiked Gorgie a few weeks after doing Mt. Whitney so it was pretty boring in comparison, but still enjoyable. Weather was perfect.
2 night backpacking trip. Camped at lodgepole spring the first night and stayed on the summit the 2nd night. Awesome Experience!

The long South Fork route
This was my longest hike to date, and thoroughly enjoyable. Had a few snow patches to cross which were fun. A fairly easy, but lengthy hike.

San Gorgonio Roundup
With Tom, Laura and Jon, tagged 10 of the summits around San Gorgonio on a fine summer day. Second time up San Gorgonio. Trip Report
3rd or 4th time on the summit this year... first time I knew the site existed to sign this! Gorgeous, windy morning on the peak. From the Vivian trailhead to the survey marker on the summit took me just under 3 hours, 40 minutes. I ran into a total of one person on the way up, and he was a volunteer from the US Forest Service sawing through trees that had fallen across the trail. If you enjoy solitude, I definitely recommend hiking this trail on a weekday if you can, because this was way closer to a "wilderness" experience than any of the (much more crowded) weekends I've picked in the past.
I also picked up quite a bit of trash (everything I saw, in fact) on the way down, and challenge others to do the same. I know most people here are not the uneducated/disrespectful/lazy culprits who left it in the first place, but seeing it and walking by it doesn't make us a whole lot better :)

Fish Creek
The trail up Fish Creek is in great shape and it meanders slowly up the mountain. It's the perfect trail for a long trail run and I had a great day cruising up to the summit and back down to my car.

First summit ever!
First summit ever in my life! Hiked with Dan and Kai. Camped at Dry Lake the first night, then summited and back to the car the next day. Awesome hike. I was sore the next day and my paws were a little raw. But I want to do it again!
9 peaks traverse is the best route to the summit. Winter is also a good time for the more standard routes. Summer on viv creek? heat and crowds both, best to avoid.
