Marc ...?Hope you don't mind being asked, but WHICH
peak is your most special, as far as
memories go?
If a person could visit ONE peak in the
Sierra Nevada, which one would it be ??? ??
(Don't mean to imply "limitations," but some
of us don't have a whole lotta time.)

Re: Marc ...?Oh, God, Larry, you are asking a very difficult question. I have some very special memories of so many mountains, and no one had ever asked me this question before. If you have just enough time for one mountain, I would recommend Mount Whitney. This photo is in the Palisades, some forty miles north of Mount Whitney. If you don't mind the crowds you can do Mt.Whitney starting in May through November. If you want to avoid the crowds, bring winter stuff and do the mountain in March or April, these are my favorite months for any Sierra Peaks. The snow is consolidated and the trails are still buried. Pick your own route.
I have many memorable solo climbs of the Sierra peaks as well. Hard to pick one.
Thanks for the visit, Larry,
Marc

CongratulationsBTW Mark, in peak season, is the Palisades area less/much less crowded than Mt Whitney?
Cheers

Re: CongratulationsHi Jacek,
Yes, absolutely. On many of my trips into the Palisades, I was all by myself, or shared the whole area with two or four other people. In 2008 my wife and I did a long loop of all the lakes there in peak season. We saw only a dozen people in many miles.
Thanks for the visit,
Marc

Re: What aThank you Charles. I was solo climbing and put the camera on a rock and took the shot. I am surprised it came out okay.

Re: Kicking back andYou said it better than I could. It's true, you make the summit, it's sunny, you're not pressed for time. The only thing left to do is to kick back and enjoy the view.
Thank you Stephen,
Marc

Re: Handsome DuckIt's 2009 now, I took this shot, let's say in 1993.
2009-1993=16 years
I am 63 now, so 63-16=47
I guess I was about 46-48 years old then.

Re: Happy SP anniversary!Thank you Borut. I remember becoming a member in mid July of 08, not mid May. I think I have about two more months before my first anniversary.
I hope you had a great weekend,

Back in the dayMarc,
I've attached this image to my "Back in the Day" album.
http://www.summitpost.org/album/594727/back-in-the-day.html
If you prefer, you can detach your picture from this album. However, I actually, instead, encourage you to post more "historical" photos of yourself in your earlier climbing years!
Behave,
Sarah

Re: Back in the daySarah, I love the idea, and I wouldn't dream of detaching this pic from your album. But, what happened to my twin brother, Burt Reynolds' pic? You know, Burt has a bad temper and he hates to be ignored. Just kidding, of course, Burt's a sweetheart.
BTW, did you say "The more embarassing, the more incriminating, the more ancient, the worse the outdoor fashion - the better!"? I have some doozies, but I'll spare your album. I hate to see it catch on fire.
Marc
