Some teams ascending, some...

Some teams ascending, some are going down towards Camp 1 (500 vertical meters down on the glacier), which is located just right of "The Tooth". This is one of the easier parts of the climb in between C 1 and C2. Only shorter sections with snow up to 70 degrees. Altitude: 6450m.

Great light!

This photo should be B&W! Love the feeling that these shadows portray... Makes me feel that I am there.

Great work!

Re: Great light!

Thanks Misha!

The light that morning was very difficult.

Those shadows in B&W would've been even more dramatic.

Re: Great light!

Great light and contrast indeed !
A lot of your photos have this black & white (yet colour) aspect.
Real talent you have ;o)

Re: Great light!

Thanks for the kind words. On altitude, early in the morning there's very little color when it's a clear day. This one came out almost b/w and I like the shot myself very much.

Re: Wow

Thanks wuedesau!

I think it's my favorite in the series as well, and the "flying avalanche".

And I agree with Misha: it seems a scene born for B&W

Re: Great..

and I agree with you both :-)

I actually have a few B&W, but I haven't even developped them yet.

Thanks for the input.

Perfect the way it is

Excellent photo. I like it very much I feel like I’m there too (and I would like :)). But I don’t agree with B&W ideas, because I thing it’s perfect photo like it is.

I knew that one of your G3 photos would be the photo of the week.Congratulations Janne.

Re: Great

Thanks Jck!

I didn't think any of them would reach all the way, as there were a lot of other nice ones submitted.

I'm very happy the viewers like this one, as it also is my favorite in the series.

Great foto at great light!

What was the time of day ?

Thanks for sharing, Herbert

Corax - Sep 22, 2005 6:04 am - Hasn't voted

Light/Time of the day

Thanks Herbie!

The photo is shot an hour after sunrise. I'm afraid I can't tell you the exact time, as I'm very bad at looking at the watch for time-of-the-day-checking purposes. When in the mountains, I completely loose the track of time and let the sun be my clock.
