Re: Old Mines...If this is the mine shaft fairly low on the mountain, I explored that as a kid circa 1984. I had been told that you could go in and there would be a drop off and then you go further in and another drop off, etc.
We carted an aluminum ladder in there and the first drop was maybe 20-30 feet. It had an old wooden ladder, and we being stupid went down the ladder. We ended up down there and there and could not go further. My friend let me go back up the ladder first, and I was thankful. I remember looking up the ladder and it seemed to twist and the distance seemed much more looking up!
There is also a cave in the white area that is kind of a vertical shaft, but as I remember was not steep and we could climb in there without rope and get back out. I think there was a squeeze and a second small room.

Re: Old Mines...This is at the eastern base of the mountain, so it could be the one. Yes....the things we do when we're young and dumb!
