Nice page
I was wondering if anyone would put this one up. All my pictures are point and shoot old school film shots so they are terrible when scanned. You may want to add the story about where the Starved Rock name came from - it's quite interesting. If you're not familiar with it I'm sure it is online somewhere.

Re: Nice page
I am familiar with the story; I seem to recall having to write a report about it at some point in grade school. If I get some pictures of the Starved Rock bluff (either the next time I'm up there or from someone else here) I'll write up a History section.
Any pictures you have would be valuable, especially if they're of the ice falls. My understanding is they don't form every year, so it would be useful to have some historical record.

Re: Nice page
If I have one of the bluff it will be film not digital. I'll see what I can track down. Don't hold your breath.
I have some autumn shots, but I was too early for the full color change, and the pictures aren't that great regardless. With the number of people that visit the park I'm sure some good seasonal pics will show up here.
Just drove through that area as my parents just moved to nearby Morrison. Nothing but corn fields...hard to believe we were within a few miles of this! Definately have to take a closer look when we go back in July. Cliffs in north-central Illinois...who'd-a-thunk it!! Nice page!
I love this park. It is necessary for my mental health as a Chicagoan. But I have been surprised a couple of times when areas/canyons were closed off for weekend hunting in winter.

Re: Beware Hunting Closures
This is true; I believe there's usually a weekend in November and another one or two in the Jan-Feb time frame. At least the last couple years, the park web site has been good about posting closure dates in advance.
