Stream Orchids

Stream Orchids

Epipactis gigantea photographed in Red Rocks, Nevada. May 2007. Please do not pick these flowers! They are very rare in the desert regions.

Pretty!

I've never seen any of these. How large are the flowers?

Re: Pretty!

Thanks Lisae. The flowers are very small, about a half inch.

Aaaaaaaaaah !

Who would have known? I was reading
how the blooms of some Asian
orchids are the size of a "pin head."
Are you finding a lot of these
this year, Anya? Take care. Larry

Re: Aaaaaaaaaah !

Yes they are plentiful this spring as well but only in some isolated wet areas. Cheers!
