Sturgeon Fin or Sturgeon Rock?

Sturgeon Fin or Sturgeon Rock?

A rock or a fin? A rockfin I say. This naming controversy ensnared a full half of the WA COHP completers in a brutal war of emails whose aftermath left one of the combatants spending time in medical facilities. Anyway, the true COHP of Clark County WA is not the summit of the rockfin area but rather a spot along the declining ridgeline heading West (leftward in this pic). This view is from the summit of Silver Star Mtn.

Nice shot ...

...Eric. When I did this cohp, it was almost dark and had no photo op's. I was foolish not to take the simple hike to the top of Silver Star Mtn but another guy and I had done Goat Mtn earlier in the day and it rained all day on us until we reached the base of Sturgeon fin.

Re: Nice shot ...

Thanks Dean. Silver Star wasn't too eventful although you could see all 4 volcanoes from the peak. Otherwise not that exciting but of course I had to do it since it is a former lookout site as well as a P1000.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hike. When I went it was already August and at that ~4000 elevation I was surprised to find that the flowers were still out in force. The little scramble up the fin was fun too. Cool basalt columns. A few more photos here:
