Just a thought...

Considering the very popular Tatra mountains, I think Slovak and Polish shall be squeezed into the list of "frontline" languages.

Re: Just a thought...

Hi,

Surely you´re right... but what about Russian?
The problem is the space, I´d like Summitposters can print the page properly to take it in the back when we climb mountains abroad.

East Europe languages are relevant of course, but how to solve the problem of the space?

Re: Just a thought...

Probably with a 2nd mountain dictionary terms list. English would be in both. What do you think?

Fountain?

This page is a good idea.

fountain/source

Perhaps you mean spring? I've never heard of a fountain in the mountains, so I assume you mean spring? Or maybe they use the word fountain for spring in England or Australia?

Also, crevasse is spelled with two s in English.

Re: Fountain?

Yep Scott, I think British use the term fountain for spring (5th edition of the British Collins Spanish Dictionary). Though it should be said drinking fountain I understand this term is used for naming built drinking fountains.

A source (of a stream or a river) would be "manantial" in Spanish

Re: What about...

I don't even use Google Docs, I edit it right here on SP, very easy and it works 100%. You just need to replace the proper "
" with your text.

Re: Weather and gear

Hi,

There´s a sheet in the shared GoogleDocs spreadsheet, although it has no contents yet.
I´m terribly buzy this week but I´ll try to get ready the gear sheet today so you can add contents to it.

Re: Weather and gear

I can explain it.
There´s no automatical process to export the spreadsheet contents into html tables... it´s me :-D
This week I having buzy (and horrible) days... so I couldn´t work on the page. I´ll try to update it toning.

Please let me know when you add something directly on html tables. There´s a good reason. I assume the news version it´s the spreadsheet document, because everybody can add contents on the same file, a unique database.
Also this is the reason why I´d prefer the collaborators add new contents using the shared spreadsheet, I´ll save time and, the most important thing: nothing will be erased.

If someone has any problem adding somothing, or find difficulties using the speadsheet just let me know. :-D
I´ll include the new terms for you.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Weather and gear

Finally it was imposible to update the html tables, because now it´s late and tomorrow I´m travelling. Right now there is another collaborator editing the shared spreadsheet so I can´t edit the page without overwriting his version and also I can´t export the html table and update the page without loosing the terms some people have added directly on the html tables...

sometimes it´s complicated, but there is a challenge, isn´t it?

I promise you all to update the page next week, including more terms.

Also, I´d like to fix the edition problems I have commented.

and

THANKS A LOT FOR THE GREAT COLLABORATIONS WE ARE RECIVING!

Great resource

Just wondering if it's possible to state what languages they are at the top of each list.

Re: Great resource

In fact they are, but I´ve realized the colour of the font it´s dark grey so it´s difficult to see because cells are black. I don´t know the reason why the fonts have this horrible colour, they are supposed to be white :-S

I´ll try to fix the problem tomorrow. Thanks for your advice.

Addition/correction

Hi,
some Italian terms are lacking and others should be corrected. For example:
- crack (wrong) = "fessura (f)" instead of "crepaccio (m)"
- face (lacking) = "faccia (f)"
and so on.
Are you interested in any support/suggestion?
Ciao
Paolo
