The climbing tower on the Steinberg
STEINBERG (by Obersteinbach, in France) : this genuine natural monument, is certainly, one of the most picturesque and romantic rocky formations, in all the Northern Vosges country ... The site is composed with three climbing massives : the two lowest are towers, which can't beeing reached (to her summits, of course ! ). The biggest of the three massives is the highest part of the Steinberg site : at the maximal altitude of 384 meters, you can reached with a technical scrambling, the high-summit of the massive, from where you will discover a totally preserved vegetation, and especially, a very savage and impressive panorama ! The Steinberg can, maybe, hiddening peregrines, but it's not sure. The neary rocks (climbing towers too), of Grenzturm and Windsteinerfels, are having very frequently peregrines, but still not the Steinberg ... This is good to know, so for the moment, you can come for visiting the Steinberg, with beeing free and in the legality ! The site is almost unknown, the pedestrian approach is a little bit difficult (very dens and junglual vegetation ! ), the surrounding of the site is possible but very delicate, ... The most interesting details on the Steinberg are the next : beautiful erosions and forms, high and vertical climbing walls (unsecured ! ), savage and rich vegetation, good silence, adventuring site, and too much more ! So, if you can and if you want, maybe a day, you can come to the Steinberg : you will be too much enhanced, enchanted ... Good luck and good action !
